AWARD-WINNING OC AGENCY EXPANDS
NUTRITION MARKETING SERVICES

Irvine, Calif. (August 3, 2005) – Integrated MarketingWorks (IMW), a marketing and public relations agency based in Irvine, California, has recently broadened its award-winning nutrition marketing services. Over the last 15 years, IMW has developed an expertise in food and nutrition marketing and recently expanded its nutrition marketing services by employing a registered dietitian communications specialist, offering recipe and nutrient analysis, and providing nutrition label development.

These new additions augment IMW’s nutrition marketing services, which include: strategic planning, scientific research, nutrition literature review, message development, media outreach, health educator relations, trade show support and nutrition legislation review.

“Our approach revolves around sound science and staying on top of the latest food and nutrition trends,” said Susan Randolph, R.D., Nutrition Communications Specialist. “The information must be translated into consumer-friendly messages that resonate with people and motivate them to change their perceptions and behavior.”

IMW’s commitment to nutrition marketing and education begins at the top. Kari Bretschger, the agency’s co-president, sits on the Produce for Better Health Foundation’s Communications Committee, which provides oversight of strategic communications for the National 5 A Day For Better Health Program. Bretschger was requested to join the committee based on her food and nutrition marketing experience in the produce industry.

Sunkist Growers, Inc. hired IMW in 2002 to develop and launch the Sunkist Nutrition Bureau to increase awareness and understanding of the role citrus plays in a healthy diet. The campaign is helping to educate Americans about the role citrus fruits play in combating such important issues as obesity, heart disease and cancer.

In addition, IMW was recently recognized by the Orange County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America with an Award of Excellence in media relations for the “Avocados as a Nutrient Booster” 2004 campaign.

The campaign, conceived by IMW and developed on behalf of the California Avocado Commission, included a strategic media relations campaign centered on a customized scientific research study that showed that avocados act as a “nutrient booster” when paired with other fruits and vegetables. The study found that individuals who ate salads and salsa with avocados absorbed more beneficial nutrients from those meals. The findings resulted in more than 100 million media impressions in such influential publications as Weight Watchers, Men’s Fitness, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Health.
